
Course Title: Information Sources and Services
Summary:
This course introduces students to the fundamental principles, types, and evaluation of information sources and the provision of information services in libraries and information centers. It explores various types of information sources—both print and electronic—including reference books, databases, journals, government publications, and web resources. Emphasis is placed on understanding how to identify, evaluate, and effectively use these sources to meet users' information needs.
The course also covers essential reference services such as reference interviews, user education, current awareness services (CAS), and selective dissemination of information (SDI). Students learn strategies for providing accurate, timely, and ethical information services in different types of libraries and information environments.
